The phrase 'shuffle off to Buffalo' means to leave for or travel to Buffalo, New York, often in a lighthearted or whimsical way. It originated from a popular song in the 1933 musical '42nd Street,' where it referred to chorus girls leaving for a new job in Buffalo. More generally, it can mean to depart or move on to a new place or situation.
